Unfortunate

The Nats scored double-digits for the third straight (!) day. Unfortunately they lost to the Rockies 11-10 in a wild affair.

The Yankees took a 3-1 lead into the ninth inning against the White Sox. Unfortunately, they tried to win without Soriano or Robertson, and by the time Robertson DID come in a hit and a throwing error had put two on, and Viciedo put one over the wall for a 4-3 lead. Derek Jeter nearly tied it in the bottom of the ninth, but his shot was caught just at the wall, and the White Sox won a rare game in which the Yankee bullpen blew a lead and the offense did not pick it up.

The Dodgers finally scored, after a near record-breaking string of zeroes. Unfortunately, Capuano’s GS 60 was not good enough, as the Dodgers fell to the Mets 3-2.

The Red Sox got an Excellent (GS 76) start from Franklin Morales, 7 scoreless innings of 3-hit ball, and 7 strikeouts with only two walks. Unfortunately they were pitted against Felix Hernandez, who spun a 5-hit complete game shutout, and pinch-hitter John Jaso singled in the winning run in the 9th inning for a 1-0 Mariner victory.

the big winner on the day? Tampa Bay, who did not play as the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles and Blue Jays ALL lost.

I love this game! But it CAN be unfortunate.
